As Total Home Performance celebrates its 16th anniversary, it's time to reflect on the remarkable journey of a company that was started by a group of close friends with a vision for a better future. Founded in 2009 by Matt Hargrove and then shortly thereafter with his lifelong friends Derek, John, and Rob, Total Home Performance is more than just a business venture; it’s a commitment to improving the energy efficiency, comfort, health, and safety of local homes while being mindful of the environment.
From our humble beginnings to a team of over 70 employees today, Total Home Performance has not only grown in numbers but has significantly expanded its services to meet the evolving needs of our customers, most recently adding HVAC installation to our offerings this year.

At Total Home Performance, we view the house as a series of interconnected systems in which every piece plays an important role in its overall comfort, health, and energy efficiency. Our new HVAC installation services will allow us to better serve you and your house in its entirety, and we’re excited to launch this offering. We Remain Committed to Whole-Home Performance
We’re excited to launch these new services, but we’re also proud of the home performance work we’ve completed to date, which has led us here. Our team has played a crucial role in improving the energy efficiency, comfort, structural integrity, health, and safety of local homes with energy audits, insulation and air sealing, crawl space encapsulation, and so much more.
In the last decade and a half, Total Home Performance has:
- Completed over 10,000 energy audits & evaluations
- Laid more than 10 million square feet of vapor barrier
- Installed over 7 million square feet of attic insulation, including both spray foam and blown insulation
- Installed over 40 miles of French drain
These efforts have not only improved the living conditions in many homes but have also contributed to a substantial reduction in energy consumption across the community.
