What Are Heat Pumps?
Heat pumps are energy efficient HVAC systems that can replace the furnace, boiler, and central AC unit in your home. Heat pumps don’t generate heat via fuel combustion, like many traditional systems, but instead simply move heat from one place to the other. This difference makes them very energy efficient.
In the summer, heat pumps take heat from the inside air and carry it outside via a refrigerant line, while adding cool air into your home just like an air conditioner does. But heat pumps also have a heating setting, where the process works in reverse, and heat is absorbed from outdoor air and brought inside to warm your home. Heat pumps are designed and engineered to be able to pull heat from even very cold air, making them ideal to handle all four seasons of Maryland weather.
How to Fix Heating and Cooling Problems
Two Types of Heat Pump Installation for Your Maryland Home
Ducted Heat Pumps
Ducted heat pumps connect to a home’s central ductwork, delivering conditioned air through your vents in the same way that a forced air furnace or central AC would.
Ductless Mini-Splits
Ductless mini-split heat pumps use the same technology as ducted heat pumps, but instead of connecting to your central ductwork, the indoor component of a ductless mini-split is installed directly into the room or area of your house you’re looking to condition.
